Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 11 months ago

This workshop will show faculty how to podcast and use RSS feeds to share the content with students. The only equipment needed is a computer (PC or Mac) and a microphone. All the software needed can be downloaded for free from the internet. That includes: Audacity and iTunes, and free web services including: Blogger and Feed Burner.

Date: Thursday, February 2, 2006

Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm

Place: TLC, South Mountain CC

Events:

  1. Demonstrate how podcasts are used in a course using RSS feeds
  2. Explain how this is different from just uploading files to Blackboard
  3. Demonstrate how RSS feeds can be used to share bookmarks
  4. Explain all of the necessary tools: computers, microphone, blog, audio recorder, server space, and feedburner
  5. Demonstrate how to set up a Blogger blog for free

An online article for how to Make a Podcast Using Blogger and Feedburner is available.

Download a sample podcast to practice editing in Audacity. Of course, you can record your own audio, but you would need a microphone for that.

Sample Email Subscription form that can used so students can subscribe to your podcast feed by typing their email address into the form box. They will then receive an email each time you update your blog with a new podcasts.

Add chicklets to Blackboard or your website so students can have a quick and easy way to subscribe to your podcasts using their preferred blog reader. See a few examples below.

Okay! So my chicklets aren't working correctly on this wiki. That's something for me to figure out later.
