Podcasting Summer Workshop in June @ GateWay Community College (GWCC)
On JUNE 5TH AND 6TH FROM 1-5PM, I will be presenting a Podcasting Workshop (Learnshop) at GateWay Community College. This will be a two part workshop.

This workshop will be more hands on with faculty leaving with a full published podcast to start their podcasting future. The workshop will provide an overview of podcasting, teaching and learning applications, and the development of an actual podcast to be used in a course. We will provide information about the theory and practice of podcasting in education. Participants will leave with a better understanding of what podcasting is, how it can be and is used in education, and what are the implications for teaching and learning. We will also begin the process of recording audio for a podcast using Audacity (PC) or Garageband (Mac). Participants will learn tips for creating the best quality audio and choosing the best optimal equipment (mics, recorders). Please bring a simple computer microphone or headset for this session.

- 1:30-2pm: Teaching and learning applications/Discussion
- 2-2:30pm: Understanding RSS Feeds, Blogging and Feed Readers
- 2:30-3pm: How to Podcast
- 3-3:30pm: Setting up a Blog/posting to blog
- 3:30-5pm: Creating Audio Using Audacity
The second session of the workshop, participants will learn about converting audio to optimal file size and how to create a podcast with their audio file. This step involves using a blog (Blogger) and a feed burner (Feedburner). Both are free resources on the web. We will also take a look at iTunes U.
- 1-2:00pm: Creating Audio Using Audacity
- 2-3:00pm: Editing Audio & Adding music
- 3-4:00pm: Export &Upload files to server/Linking to Blog
- 4-5pm: Subscribing to podcasts using iTunes( enhanced/video podcasts)
