3gp/3g2	The third generation video standard. It integrates mp3, mp4, 3gpp, 3g3p and 3g2. It is most commonly used to capture video from your cell phone and place it online.	3G cell phones: Nokia,Siemens,Sony,Ericsson
amv	a proprietary video file format, produced for mp4 players. The container is a modified version of avi.
asf	a subset of the wmv format and was developed by Microsoft. The most common files types that are contained within an ASF file are Windows Media Audio, and Windows Media video.
avi	audio video interleave, developed by Microsoft. Usually uses less compression than some similar formats and is a very popular format amongst internet users. m2t	a mpeg transport stream used mostly in broadcast and in HDV cameras.
mkv	Matroska video, the extensible open standard Audio/Video container. Built with the future in mind.
mpg	Common video format standardized by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) (MPEG-I,MPEG-II,VCD,SVCD)
mov, qt	QuickTime format was developed by Apple and is a very common one. compatible with both Mac and Windows platforms, and can be played on an Apple Quicktime player. (codecs: H263,H264,MPEG4,SVQ..)	QuickTime

rm	RealMedia is a format which was created my RealNetworks. It contains both audio and video data and typically used for streaming media files over the internet. Realmedia can play on a wide variety of media players for both Mac and Windows platforms.
