 Creating Vodcasts

 

Goal: To provide a hands-on experience to shoot video and edit video using various vodcast-creation tools. Support is provided throughout the workshop during the development process.

 

  1. Quick overview of vodcasting and equipment options (15 minutes)
  2. Shoot video using an inexpensive pocket video camcorder (Flip Mino) (30 min)
    1. Use camcorder to conduct short interviews
    2. Compose short scenes and record them
    3. View video in the camcorder
  3. Upload video from camcorder to a PC (30 min)
    1. Distinguish between various file formats
    2. Install provided software for camcorder used
    3. Use various features of the provided software
  4. Edit video using provided camcorder software and Windows Movie Maker (45 min)
    1. Cut out sections and crop the ends of video
    2. Add photos, music and voiceover to video timeline
    3. Add transitions & titles
    4. Combine video clips together into one video
  5. Edit video using free online video editing site (JumpCut) (20 min)
    1. Cut out sections and crop the ends of video
    2. Try out Remix features
  6. Export video in different file formats (10 min)
    1. For Windows Media Player
    2. For online video sharing sites (Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo)
    3. For CD, DVD or TV.
  7. Convert video to various formats using Media Converter (10min)

     

  8. Podcasting resources and readings (10 minutes)
