Vodcasting: Production and Distribution

 

Goal: To provide a hands-on experience to develop a vodcast by uploading video files to a server, online video sharing sites and iTunes U, setting up a blog, using online file sharing sites to edit, organize and display videos, creating widgets to display videos on alternative sites like Blackboard and social networks. This event will also include vodcasting teaching and learning applications, vodcasting resources and readings, and a brief review of copyright issues in vodcasting.

 

Agenda:

  1. We have video. Now what? Overview of Workshop 2 (5 min)
  2. Demonstrate & discuss upload options (15 min)
  1. School-hosted (Server & Blackboard)
  2. Free online video sharing sites (YouTube, Vimeo, Viddyou, Jumpcut)
  3. iTunes U
  1. Stream Live Video Online to creat a vodcast (Ustream.tv)
  2. Upload existing video to Jumpcut & do quick edits using JumpCut (15 min)
  3. Upload existing video to YouTube, Viddyou, Vimeo and explore options. (15 min)
  4. Create groups, albums and channels in online sharing sites (10 min)
  5. Learn about and Create widgets from online sharing sites (10 min)
  6. Embed video & widgets to various sites (Blackboard, Social network, and blogs) (10 min)
  7. Set up a blog using Tumblr and embed, upload and email video into Tumblr (20 min)
  8. Subscribe to vodcasts in a podcatcher (iTunes/Google Reader) (10 min)
  9. Use the Copyright Guidelines provided to make sure all necessary rights and permissions are secured for the material included in your vodcasts. (10 min)
